What is DNS?


  • Domain Names are the alternative names given to the logical internet address of the computers which can be easily remembered instead as sequence of bits in logical address.
  • DNS can be defined as a system of identifying the networks and computers on those networks by the domain names, for the easy reference by the humans.
  • Domain Name Systems, includes the database for storing the Domain names and their internet address and a software for mapping the internet addresses to domain names.
  • Domain Name Servers are the distributed database servers for storing the Domain name and their and logical address because it is fast and secure to retrieve data from distributed database.
